I’m lovin’ this new throwback look for Haendiges Corporation. I had the pleasure of working on a few print pieces for Lindsay’s kitchen & bath design company in Los Angeles about a year ago so I was flattered when she contacted me again this past December to help her create a new brand for their family business. She and her husband Billy knew they were looking for an industrial, masculine logo that would incorporate their “since 1937” tagline. We started with the inspiration board to establish the overall mood and color palette for their new brand. Next, I came up with 4 unique logo designs, each with two variations of that particular style. Lindsay and Billy were quick decision makers and super awesome clients to work with throughout this process. They went straight for concept #1 with an addition of the “1937” element from concept #4 to give them a perfect option for a stamp, pattern, and submark. Another fellow creative that I had the opportunity to work with back in 2013…check out the new new look for Ashley Lynn Fry Photography & Creative Styling. Ashley is an awesomely talented wedding photographer who also has a serious talent for styling and coordinating events. She was looking for a handwritten logo that highlighted her initials “ALF” since her name is a pretty long one. Succulents inspired the green focused color palette and we added in a touch of black and gold to round out the look. Happy {belated} New Year! I am so excited to finally share the new Pineapple Studios brand and custom WordPress website with you guys today. Jess, the owner, yoga instructor, and pottery lover, behind Pineapple Studios’ unique concept, came to me back in the fall to help create her new brand. This project is special to me because it is a local business here in Wilmington, North Carolina. Most of my clients find me from all over the US and beyond {which is totally amazing to work with people all over} but it was nice to work with Jess locally, discuss her vision over a warm cup of coffee, and see her studio come together from start to finish in person. I had so much fun creating Jess’s brand with a handwritten brush pen and a splash of watercolor and carrying her new look throughout her custom WordPress website.
She is celebrating her grand opening at her studio in downtown Wilmington this weekend. Pretty pumped to show off the new look I created with Carly from The Fit Foodie. She is a registered dietitian out in San Deigo/La Jolla, CA area who was on a mission to develop a fresh new brand for her business. Carly was going for a clean, modern look with a touch of hand written scrip and kraft to pull it all together. We developed a soft, mostly neutral color palette with pops of mint and blush to add a feminine touch. Carly’s custom WordPress website followed suit with clean white spaces, bold lines and color blocked buttons. The end of this year has been super busy and this is just one of the brands I will be launching as we round out 2013. And man, where do I start with this one…I pretty much love everything about The Little Things‘ new look. I was initially intrigued when Alexis, the owner, designer, and planner at TLT, described her overall vision for her rebrand as “modern bohemian.” The initial mood board shown below seemed to be right on target with what Alexis was looking for and everything came together from there. From the stationery to the custom wordpress website, I can say I really had a lot of fun working on this project. Alexis – thanks for being absolutely fantastic to work with and I can’t wait to watch your business grow with your new look. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to my awesome clients, supporters, and fans of Salted Ink. This year, I finally built up the guts to take the plunge into full-time self employment. Back in March, I created my little home on the web and opened the doors for business. Since that day, it has truly been my most challenging and rewarding accomplishment to date. I am so very thankful I get to do what I love every day and I know none of this success would be possible without your business and support. So, thank you…now let’s go stuff our faces ’til our pants don’t fit.
It’s here, the first official day of Fall. This is seriously my favorite season for so many reasons {pumpkin spice EVERYTHING for one} but I think my favorite thing about fall is the weather here in coastal NC.
Being a graphic designer, you spend a lot of time behind your computer; staring at designs, chatting with clients or comparing pantone colors spread across your desk. While I feel so thankful and very fortunate to have my dream job and my own business {thanks to my amazing clients} I do rely on my daily runs & workouts to clear my head, break designer blocks, and keep me from going stir crazy. As an old, beat up college soccer player, I don’t run for time much anymore…I just run because I tend to truly enjoy it {almost as much as I enjoy beer, cookies, and carbs}. So, in honor of the beautiful fall running season, I wanted to share some of my favorite running gear & my current playlist that gets me moving. {details and links to each product are below}
1. Feetures! Socks: A good pair of socks are almost as important as a good pair of shoes in my book. These socks are definitely more than the average sock purchase, but they feel perfect on your feet.
2. Nike Free Run: I have had about 4 pair of the free family shoes and love them all. Super flexible, light weight, and a great option for minimalist running.
3. lululemon Swiftly Headband: Doesn’t squeeze your head yet it stays in place…even when I am playing in one of my old people soccer league games.
4. Bose Headphones: I made the move to Bose headphones a few years ago and now it is hard to listen to anything else. These have great sound and they fit in your ear so perfectly without falling out or becoming uncomfortable. Highly recommend spending the money on these!
5. Without Limits Apparel: This is an up-and-coming local apparel brand out of Wilmington, NC. Awesome fit, super soft material, and really great people behind it. I have had the awesome opportunity to be a part of their marketing team and I also happen to be a huge fan of their product.
6.. lululemon Speed Shorts: Best athletic shorts I have ever purchased, period. They sit low on your hips, don’t ride up, and are very flattering. I have about 6 pair of these and they are worth every penny. I just wish they would make them faster since they are always sold out of the fun colors and most sizes online…that is pretty annoying.
7. Good Ole ipod Shuffle: I have an ipod and an iphone, but always take my go-to shuffle on my runs. It’s light weight, easy to clip on, and you don’t care too much if you lose it because it’s pretty inexpensive to replace.
I had the awesome opportunity to work with the very talented Melissa Biador on her new look for Melissa Biador Photography. Her lovely work has been featured by Style Me Pretty, Borrowed & Bleu, Grey Likes Weddings, and The Wedding Chicks just to name a few. Melissa’s style is a perfect blend of modern and natural and she wanted to capture that essence with her new brand. I based her design off of a hand scripted “mb” and boxed it in with modern lines and a clean sans serif font.
