New Website Launch: Bliss Bridal Beauty

I’ve can’t wait to show off this awesomely clean, feminine site I did for Marissa over at Bliss Bridal Beauty.  This was the last step in our branding project together (check out my previous blog about Bliss’s brand) and I think the new site ties her lovely brand together perfectly.  We will be dressing up the reviews page in the coming weeks with some images of her fans as they come in, but I wanted to go ahead and let you guys take a peak.   This is just one of the sites I have going live while we wrap up this year, so check back for more web design by Salted Ink on the blog soon.

So Very Thankful This Thanksgiving

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to my awesome clients, supporters, and fans of Salted Ink. This year, I finally built up the guts to take the plunge into full-time self employment. Back in March, I created my little home on the web and opened the doors for business. Since that day, it has truly been my most challenging and rewarding accomplishment to date. I am so very thankful I get to do what I love every day and I know none of this success would be possible without your business and support. So, thank you…now let’s go stuff our faces ’til our pants don’t fit.

New Brand Launch: The Cake Blog

I loved joining creative forces with Carrie, founder and editor of the widely popular and super tasty The Cake Blog, on this project to help reinvent her already well established brand.  With over half a million hits each month, Carrie knew her rebrand was a huge decision so we went back and forth a few times until she knew this was “it.”  Carrie was set on a clean, modern, “crate and barrel” type feel, so we stuck to the theory of less is definitely more for her new look.  We went with a color palette of predominately black accented by pops of mustard and subtle diagonal striped pattern to set off her fresh new brand.

Carrie may be one of the sweetest and most multitalented clients I have ever had the opportunity to work with.  Not only is she a full time successful business owner and mom, she also has a fantastic design eye and is a darn good website designer!  She actually took the new look we created and recently redesigned thecakeblog.com which just went live over the weekend!  A big thanks to Carrie for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of her rebrand and please listen to your sweet took and go check out the new look on her blog at thecakeblog.com. {watermarked photos below compliments of The Cake Blog}

New Brand Launch: Lattice & Ivy

Get ready for some preppy southern charm…today is the official launch day for Lattice and Ivy and I am so excited to finally share this project with you guys.  I hopped on board with their team in early summer and am so pumped to have been a part of creating this colorful new brand.  Lattice and Ivy is a new company targeted towards the fashionable female entrepreneur and pays top commissions on personalized, stylish, fun products you love.   I worked with the Lattice and Ivy creative team to design a clean, modern, colorful logo that embodied their trendy products and overall essence of their brand.  The logo element that we created using a subtle combination of the “l” and the ‘i” made for a lovely pattern…so much so that they decided to use it on some of their product line {see the awesome monogramed coaster image below}!  We kicked off this project by developing a Pinterest inspiration board and it all snowballed from there.  Below is a little recap the process and how it all came together.  Be sure to check them out!

New Brand Launch: Bliss Bridal Beauty

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I promise it’s for good reason.  I have so many awesome brands in the works right now I can barely stand it and Bliss Bridal Beauty is one of them.  Marissa came to me in search of a soft, feminine brand that will appeal to her upscale bridal clientele.  We started with a mix of blush pinks, mints and grays and added in the gold glitter for that little something extra.  The new Bliss look is simple and elegant, with a subtle romantic flair.  The secondary logo is perfect for use with stickers, stamps, and profile images for social media platforms.  The new Bliss website is currently in the works and we will be sure to share when we launch.  If you are a bride in the Southern California area, check out Bliss Bridal Beauty!

New Brand Launch: Laura James Studio

Laura James is an amazing photographer out on the west coast specializing in children, families and food.  I had the privilege of working with Laura on her recent rebranding project and we had a lot of fun bringing her colorful new brand to life.  She LOVES flamingos with a subtle botanical flair and wanted to somehow incorporate that style into her new look.   We established a bright color palette grounded by the crafts and creams she will be using in her packaging and client materials.  She also needed a few logo variations that were USB printer friendly so the horizontal logo variations were developed to give her an alternative look and worked perfectly for her new watermark as well.  A huge thank you to Laura for letting Salted Ink bring her new brand to life and and lending us the lovely photos below to display her new watermark.

Some of my Favorite Running Gear in Honor of the First Day of Fall

It’s here, the first official day of Fall. This is seriously my favorite season for so many reasons {pumpkin spice EVERYTHING for one} but I think my favorite thing about fall is the weather here in coastal NC.

Being a graphic designer, you spend a lot of time behind your computer; staring at designs, chatting with clients or comparing pantone colors spread across your desk. While I feel so thankful and very fortunate to have my dream job and my own business {thanks to my amazing clients} I do rely on my daily runs & workouts to clear my head, break designer blocks, and keep me from going stir crazy. As an old, beat up college soccer player, I don’t run for time much anymore…I just run because I tend to truly enjoy it {almost as much as I enjoy beer, cookies, and carbs}.  So, in honor of the beautiful fall running season, I wanted to share some of my favorite running gear & my current playlist that gets me moving.  {details and links to each product are below}

Fall-Run-Favorites-By-Salted-Ink-Digital-Design-Co

1. Feetures! Socks:  A good pair of socks are almost as important as a good pair of shoes in my book.  These socks are definitely more than the average sock purchase, but they feel perfect on your feet.

2. Nike Free Run:  I have had about 4 pair of the free family shoes and love them all.  Super flexible, light weight, and a great option for minimalist running.

3. lululemon Swiftly Headband: Doesn’t squeeze your head yet it stays in place…even when I am playing in one of my old people soccer league games.

4. Bose Headphones: I made the move to Bose headphones a few years ago and now it is hard to listen to anything else.  These have great sound and they fit in your ear so perfectly without falling out or becoming uncomfortable.  Highly recommend spending the money on these!

5. Without Limits Apparel: This is an up-and-coming local apparel brand out of Wilmington, NC.  Awesome fit, super soft material, and really great people behind it. I have had the awesome opportunity to be a part of their marketing team and I also happen to be a huge fan of their product.

6.. lululemon Speed Shorts: Best athletic shorts I have ever purchased, period.  They sit low on your hips, don’t ride up, and are very flattering.  I have about 6 pair of these and they are worth every penny.  I just wish they would make them faster since they are always sold out of the fun colors and most sizes online…that is pretty annoying.

7. Good Ole ipod Shuffle: I have an ipod and an iphone, but always take my go-to shuffle on my runs.  It’s light weight, easy to clip on, and you don’t care too much if you lose it because it’s pretty inexpensive to replace.

Brand Launch: Melissa Biador Photography

I had the awesome opportunity to work with the very talented Melissa Biador on her new look for Melissa Biador Photography.  Her lovely work has been featured by Style Me PrettyBorrowed & BleuGrey Likes Weddings, and The Wedding Chicks just to name a few.  Melissa’s style is a perfect blend of modern and natural and she wanted to capture that essence with her new brand.  I based her design off of a hand scripted “mb” and boxed it in with modern lines and a clean sans serif font.  Please enjoy a few of Melissa’s shots below featuring her new watermark and be sure to check out her lovely full portfolio at www.mbiadorweddings.com.  Business card design and other print material coming soon!
